Gampopa (1079-1153), also called Dhakpo Rinpoche is a historical master of the Kagyupa lineage
and more particularly the branch called Karma-kagyu.
Disciple of Milarepa, he is considered the founder of the mother line Dhagpo Kagyu,
and the ancestor of the "four great schools" of the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism founded by four of his disciples.
